The Class40 is an offshore racing and cruising monohull sailboat with a length of 40 feet (12.18 m).

Its exceptional geographical location offers an excellent refuge against winds from all directions and makes it an almost obligatory stopover for hundreds of yachts of the most diverse nationalities, which stop there every year during their voyages on the North Atlantic, as well as for sailboats traveling from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean.

The marina of La Rochelle was created in 1972. It is one of the largest marinas and the largest on the European Atlantic coast with its 5,000 places spread over an area of 70 hectares. It generates nearly 2,000 direct and indirect jobs on a nautical platform bringing together 230 companies.

The Cap Excellence Agglomeration Community was created on December 30, 2008 at the initiative of the cities of Pointe-à-Pitre and Les Abymes with the major objective of joining forces in a space of solidarity aimed at developing and leading together a project common urban development and planning of their territories.
